High EGT's?
High EGT's?
Well, last week I installed my pyro (autometer). When cruising at 60, one day I'll see 750 (not a lot of completely level ground), and the next I'll see 675. Mostly it has been at 750, and when climbing real small hills, it will get to 800-850. With TC locked in and near WOT, I have gotten it up to 1100, I didn't push it to the floor or the TC would slip. These sound kind of high to me, the gauge is pre turbo. I am going to check for boost leaks tonight, what is the best way? Use soapy water like with a tire? Filter minder on the K&N drop is right at the top. My timing is pretty retarded, as cold startups suck, do you think this could be the culprit? I am going to order a boost gauge tonight, so I can monitor that (I was hoping I could put it off, but now I might as well get it). Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
If you have your stock plate slid forward those temps dont sound bad at all.If you advance the timming that will help to lower your egt's 150 to 200 degrees & give you some extra power on the top end.Dont go over 15.5 to 16.0 degrees advanced as the higher you go the more your cylinder pressure will raise & this can pop a stock headgasket.Set your valves also while your at it.

Matt, the temps don't sound too bad with your timing where it is. We NEED to get together and set your timing. From what I have been reading your timing should be set at 16.5* and I know it will drop your EGTs some. Mine only runs about 550* at 60 mph. I have only seen 1200 at WOT and 34psi boost. Check what Infidel says here:https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=41714
When are you getting your tranny? That is another project. I ordered mine last monday and was told it probably won't be going out until sometime next week.
