HELP! Turbo Issuses
Last night i was driving back home from a 150mile trip. about 6 miles from home im coming up a 6% grade and give it some fuel to pass and POP! my intercooler boot on the passenger side blew off. being 6 miles from home i decided to limo it home and put it back on in the morning.
this morning i come out to fix it and i notice oil inside the boot and not inside the intercooler. i pull the turbo and find alot of oil on the output side of the compressor.
what do i do now? who do i call to get it rebuilt? can any turbo shop put a new seal in?
why did i blow a seal when the interooler boot let go?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
It was probablly leaking oil before the hose blew. Has it been using oil to amount to anything? You can buy a rebuild kit with some difficulty. Dealers want the high price rebuild labor and quality control. Probablly easier to get reman and be done. Bout any turbo shop can handle or exchange across counter.

i checked intake and right at the intercooler after it blew off. no sighn of oil at all. i have been having to ad oil but that is because of a bad timing case cover leak that also needs to be fixed.
btw its High tech turbos htb2 62/12. i will try to call them in the morning again

i had the same thing happen to me... blew the pipe off the turbo, drove about 5 miles, and it had spit oil all over the place,
i noticed the pipe into the intercooler appeared to be clean... i just hooked back up and ordered a rebuild kit, drove it about two more weeks, and when i went to rebuild it, there was no sign of oil any where.
maby just the absence of psi inside the turbo during driving??? im not sure what it actually was but definately strange...
rebuild was fairly quick and simple as long as you know the turbo shaft has left hand threads... i didnt and broke my shaft,
but luckly had some spare turbos around.
