It all depends on the quality of the fuel you buy.
Best way to determine when to change your fuel filter is to install a fuel pressure gauge. Just eliminating two needless filter changes based on mileage or months alone will easily pay for a gauge that is handy to have.
I don't change my filter until fuel pressure at highway cruising speed drop 3-5 psi. I usually can go 30-50k miles between changes.

to some of you it may seem like i dont care or want to take onlu the short way out. you r wrong. it has been cold in alaska and i just got $$$$. tryed the 2 stroke oil, didnt work realy, no suprise with the suply fuel hose kinked as much as it is. next week when im done moving out of my appartment i will b installing a new fuel level sending unit, new fuel hose, a fuel filter, the track bar and a few other things. fyi, tst now caries a tapes banjo bolt.
