Fuel tank vent mod

Can someone point me to a thread or a article for this mod, I've searched for hours and can't come up with anything. I'm getting tired rocking the truck 3-4 times to get it filled.

Cheers

I guess that's why my search came up with zilch.

Has anybody done this to our trucks? The vent is on the side and level if not lower than the filler port, also there's a higher section just on the other side of the cross member. If both areas were vent properly I could squeeze an other 2-3 gallons in it and have a proper gage to work my mileage from.

Maybe try presure washing the are between the top of the tank and box.Mine was caked in mud from logging roads. It created a vacum in my tank thought the lift pump was gone.

The tank vent mod is for third gens. They literally hold 6+ gallons more of fuel after the first cut off. Not to mention up to 15 more minutes to top it off from that point. Yes I timed that
If you want to try and adapt the kit they are sold by a member over on TDR under basement enterprizes on the classified pages. Easy install on the 3rd gens. It was a better mod than the 100 plate and gov springs on my truck! However I dought that it will make a big difference on a second gen.

The issue with the 3rd gen trucks is that DC uses the same tank for diesel and RUG. The RUG needs more room to expand due to high vapor pressire of the gasoline, so there's a high spot in the tank. That's where the vent is relocated to.

Tony I assume you know about the "ventectomy" mod on your TDI tank too...
Manually venting my TDI, I get (if I'm patient with the foam)as much as 2 US Gallons more than unvented.. (~100 more on-the-road miles)

I'd like to give it a try, I also want to incress the vent size and see if that helps. I'm a plumber so I can get the fitting, does any body have a picture of the fitting that go's on the tank?

Yup! However, the ventectomy applies to pre-'06 TDI's!

Thanks anyway, though!
