I am trying to find how to wire the fuel stop soleniod for a 95 12 valve, I tried it on the batt just hooking up the 2 large wires and it opened up just fine but when I left it open for a while it got hot and actually started smoking any ideas thanks

also if I ruined it I am goint to just put it on a stop cable anybody done this?

 

There are two coils in the shutdown solenoid, a high amp one that pulls only while the starter is cranking and low amp hold coil.
If the pull coil is energized too long it will smoke, melt wires and start a fire.
