Fuel Shutoff solenoid

So I had a issue with mine cleaned it up an greased lightly and it seems to be working good now but still have parts ( boot and relay ) coming from Larry B's.

I would have to keep starter rolling for 8 or 9 sec. and mash the gas to the floor ( on a cold day almost couldn't get it to go ) to get it to run, after it started it ran like new when I shut it off I would cycle the key 3 or 4 times then it would fire.

Before cleaning I would lift plunger up and it work like it was suppose to but noticed I could still push plunger up 3/8" to 1/2" to the top after it was running. After cleaning it's full pull to the top, with the key on only before starting rod is down but after I start it's now full top and no play left. Does it stay down when on key then go up and stay up after starting.

The solenoid only lifts if the starter is energized. Key on will hold it up, but won't lift it.
