where do i test fuel pressure and what are the specs? My problem is no power. Runs great, no miss. I can only build about 12 lbs of boost even under load. What are boost specs ? Can I test pressure on top of filter housing, 10 mm bolt?

 

Yes you can test pressure from the top of the filter housing. Search and find(maybe in archives or sticky on top) where you can tap a banjo bolt, install a valve for very cheap. Something like 22-25psi at idle I think for a 12v.

Boost should be higher under full load. 18psi or so, give or take some.

I have 25psi fuel at idle. As soon as I get it back into the garage I will check 2500 rpm fuel press and fuel pressure under load. If that checks OK what should I look for next ? As far as I know vehicle has never been maintained all that well and I,m sure it has no performance upgrades. I got it from a mason who used it for work and then sat for 10 yrs. We did pull the screen to check for debris but that was suprisingly clean.

 

Very common for the timing to slip on these engines.

but you need special tools, may be cheaper to pay someone else to do it.
Just make sure they use the method in these instructions.
Many mechanics will say they can do the timing but use the guesstimate method.

Make sure all the filters are clean and that the line that goes from the back of the injection pump to the turbo is intact.
