Fuel mileage

Could some 12v'ers chime in & post mpg with trucks similar to mine, please see sig. below. I'm getting right at 15 around town/ 17 highway, this seems to be about right for similar 24 valve's.

Mine isn't exactly similar but I get 17-18 city and 21-22 highway, 19-20 hauling a 10k trailer =)

97 2500 Long Box Extended Cab 4x4 5 speed 3.54 gears 188,000 miles 305/70r16 on Centerline 16x10s.

AFE drop in filter, #11 fuel plate, 35psi wastegate elbow, medium AFC springs (approx 300hp/700ft-lb)

Our 97 seems to be 17-19.5. Haven't really got a good average yet. The speedo is off about 4%. Just bought some new (bigger, 315/75R16) tires and will have to get the speedo adjusted.

My 99 was giving 21.5-22.5. It dropped 2MPG suddenly about two years ago. I think it was fuel at the time. Since then I did all the upgrades in my sig. and am back up to 21. I may have a flakey VP.

Ya, mine is about the same as Danl's, depending on how I drive it.

big tires throwing off the speedo also throw off the odo, right? ie: if i'm actaully going 70mph when my speedo reads 60mph, then if i travel for an hour at that speed, my odo will only show 60 miles traveled, when it was actually 70?

I get about 17.5-18.5 mpg pretty consistently. Of course, I like to pull up the 7 percent grades at 77 mph which no doubt decreases the mileage somewhat.
I have reduced my turbo housing size from 14cm to the stock 12cm, so will see how the mileage works out on that, will post it in a week or so. I know I sure don't have to push the "go pedal" nearly as far for the same power now!

I have also gotten 22mpg on the highway. I seem to get around 17mpg around town if i drive it right(hard for me to do). Dads stock 98 never gets under 19 unless he's pulling. He gets in the 20's almost every tank, but he drives on the highway more than i do, and for longer distances. I do lots of shirt trips/idling, and all that good stuff.

Does anyone routinely go farther than 500 miles before stopping for fuel? I have gone a little over...but they are nervous miles with the fuel gauge on empty! I have never put in more than about 30 gallons to fill up though.

Nervous miles...anything over 350 with the trailer, and 450 without are nervous, since my gauge has not worked for 5 years.

Often enough so the wife doesn't quite as nervous traveling the last 100 miles with the low fuel light "on".
The mommy van is very empty when the light comes on. Pickup usually has 10 gallons.
