Long story short , front wheel bearing went uniform tango on the highway tonight , got a ride into town on a rollback.
Whats it going to cost me to get my baby on the road again?

Wheel bearing assemblies are usually something like 200-300$
Infidel had a neat tip to extract the old one.. use a socket extension between one of the 4 studs that hold it into the knuckle and turn the steering wheel to use it like a press.

I Got it towed to work (i'm a heavy equip mech) But i will get one of the truck and trailer guys to do the work , since we can't do our own stuff in the shop without a work order. I was definetly planning to tell them of the pressing trick.
This is what happens if you try to be slick and use a puller:

Well , the wheel bearing is in , i ended up doing it myself, the service writer was lazy making up a work order , so i had it all apart and going back together before they started charging me time, i only ended up with about 1.5 hours on the work order, I worked out the math on that , and i spent not quite 4 hours all together working on it ( i did a few other things , greased the front end ETC) but was only charged roughly 1.5 hours, i earned 6$ working on my own truck.
I called around for prices on a bearing , the dealer wanted 406 , Napa wanted 590$ (somehow i think they may have quoted me an ABS bearing) and I ended up with one from carquest for 260$ (i got it for the shops price). All tolled it cost me 400$ (including parts , the tow , and the labour). It wasn't as bad as it could have been , but i hope i don't have to re-play this soon.
