front crank seal

ok went to cummins to get the seal. NO INSTRUCTIONS??????? i searched here and got some info but still have to ask.
it come with the clear plastic thing for the crank which kinked and got destroyed,

it had the seal and the steel depth guage thing and also another type of seal you install from the back into the main seal, is this correct? do i need that second seal from the back seems thats what ****** the clear thing for the crank. way to hard to get on... pretty sure the $70 cummins seal is shot now as well, if its not my friend might have his clear plastic thing left over from his front seal. he can;t remember anything about installing his.

Those TST instructions should clear your questions up. I used it when I did my KDP. There is a black dust seal that goes on AFTER you put the Timing cover with crank seal over the crank (and before the damper is installed). The dust shield is really not needed but I installed mine. The clear sleeve is just used to keep the crank seal rubber lip from rolling when installing the cover (with crank seal installed) over the crank.

After you install the crank seal in (from the backside of cover) with the install tool..then you slip the clear seal install tool in from the back side of cover under the lip of the crank seal and carefully slid the cover with all that stuff over the crank. Once the cover is bolted in place...remove the clear seal. Remember the crank must be very dry...no lube...and clean. It is a teflon seal....no oil or grease on it. I cleaned the seal and crank with brake cleaner and paper towels a bunch before I installled it on crank. Otherwise it will leak later.
