Not sure what the F-250 rotors go for, but I can't imagine them being very cheap either. Although calipers are cheap...I had to replace one that locked up I think it was only $20 or something. Monday I might take another look at it and bring it to a diesel mech to have him give it a look-over. If I wasn't leaving on Wednesday for 2-3 weeks I'd send an oil sample out to be checked.

What would an oil sample tell you and where could you get one done? Bought my truck about 4 months ago and I love it. Drove it from Virgina beach VA to southern california in 2 and half days, truck ran great and it was a nice ride too. I would never be able to drive a long distance like that with a little honda civic.

Dave,
Price wise with those things needed I would say err ohh eerr... Here is what I got. Mine had 3 good tires and one that was less (humm wonder where that tire was parked) She had all the goodies listed in my sig on there except for the bypass system, cup holder and tonnoue cover. She leaked at what I was told the tstat housing - turned out to be head gasket and I paid $8700 if I remember correctly. Body wise she is in great shape only little rock chips - no dents, dings or scratches. Had newer SB CON O clutch so she was set up pretty decent. Interior was great only small tear on the drivers seat where you exit (very common) but other than that A1. She was bed lined so they are out there - I just got taken on the head gasket thing but with the other goodies I feel as though I came out decent. So keep looking I got mine off TDR classifieds. Mine had the brakes just gone through.
Reason I think I did decent is up here around the Fort Wayne area I seen trucks in much worst shape body wise going for much more money - these trucks really pull good money up here.
on edit forgot to mention she had 177k on the ticker when I got her.

Hey Travis...yeah I know the gem's are out there...might have to be something I have to wait for though. I looked through a couple classifieds sites (Seems only 2 or 3 of the 7 Dodge Diesel sites have classifieds...weird), but I didn't find anything. I went through "Truck Trader" and didn't see anything either.
I see 2 others in the paper...one is a "1 ton" so that would be a dually right? Don't want that. Other is a '98 2500 4x4 5-spd club cab...for $8950. More than I want to spend though. I hate shopping!
I have to drive from here in TX up to MA on Wednesday...I was hoping to have something better to drive for that but I don't think that's going to happen...but I've got a problem with my F-250...it's making a squealing noise during RPM deceleration...dunno if it's the injector pump or what.

Ugh, but it's red...scratch that one! It's a shortbed though...I like longbed's, call me weird. You like shortbeds? Yeah as far as the loan goes I'm approved or $7K. Has 190K, SLT, good tires, few scratches that will "buff out"...I don't think I could stand red though.

so a 12V 4x4 is a pretty rare truck then? Seems like it. I see some NICE 2WD ones, but if I'm going to plunk this much money down, I want a truck I like...meaning a 4x4, 5-speed, extended cab (You call them quad/crew or what's the difference?), SLT Laramie, long-bed. That '98 is almost it, 'cept it's a shortbed, which will be REALLY short once I put a tool box in it, and it's red...gross.
Is a '98 that much better than a '96?

Only thing i know
It has that more modern interior that the 24V's actually have, i like that interior more, But other than that, the engine i believe is the same thing. The main reason that they 98s are so desirable is because of their rarity, the quad cab option was available, and it was the last year of the 12V and the first year of the desirable quad shorties as i call them. They were the last of the best cummins 12V engines made, as the 1996 was the start of the golden era of the 12V. That is what makes them so desirable, plus the 12V is easier to BOMB and easier to work on, as well as has a few more years of proven reliability than a 24V.. BUT im not biased..
Best of luck!

Appreciate the info! Didn't know that. I'm thinking that SERIOUSLY the truck I want doesn't exist though.
I've yet to even SEE:
94-98 Dodge Ram w/ Cummins 12V engine
Extended Cab
Long Bed
4x4
Manual Tranny
NOT RED OR MAROON
NO Dually
If anyone comes across any please let me know

Did the '98's with the newer interior also have the 24V?
Here's a '98 with a 24V...

Yes. The later 98's were all 24 valves, as they stopped putting the 12v in them about halfway through 98. Everything from 98-2002 had the same interior also.
