Flywheel Question?
Flywheel Question?
I'm building myself up to do a clutch job on my 12v 5 speed. The shop manual states :
"Flywheel machining is not recommended. The flywheel
clutch surface is machined to a unique contour
and machining will negate this feature. However,
minor flywheel scoring can be cleaned up by hand with
180 grit emery, or with surface grinding equipment"
My question is go ahead and have my existing flywheel resurfaced, contrary to the manual, get a new flywheel or just do as the manual recommends? By the way, anyone know what size the flywheel/crankshaft bolts are? Thanks..

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Many flywheels have been resurfaced with no unpleasant results. Some flywheels are cut with a very small angle. Inside is lower than outside. Perhaps 1/8 degree.
yeah I replaced my clutch per the manual like u have using a DA with 180. Put it together and it slips worse than before. Take it back out get the flywheel turned and ta da.. works great. Get it machined.
