I think what those FMs are for is the people that don't care about their trucks (or cars, my wifes Focus has a FM also), and adopt the attitude of "if it ain't broke don't fix it", and are too lazy to do proper maintenance A vast majority of us here on DTR do not fall in that category.

You got it Randy. I don't mind buying a couple extra filters. They are cheap (compared to an engine). I also say the same thing about oil. Its cheap...change it often. No, I don't go crazy like the owner's manual suggests, but I change it every 8,000-10,000 miles, which is more often than these engines really require in most conditions. When I have a garage again, and don't have to lay in the snow to do them, I'll probably change the oil a bit more often.

Yup, do what makes you feel better. Its your truck, and you know whats best for it.
