Question Fancy T-Stat or Cheap one?

My t-stat is getting kind of sticky. The motor gets a little warmer before it lets loose and the temperature drops.
I had the truck at the Cummins shop a while back and they said it wanted to overheat when they had it on the dyno. They said it was probably just the thermostat.
I haven't had an issue with overheating, just what I described above.
Anyhow, I went on Rock Auto.com to buy a thermostat and there was quite a spread price wise.
Does it matter?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

Use the Cummins part. Top hat style stat is much more reliable than a cheaper witches cap style stat (look at the side profile to tell the difference). The top hat style doesn't bind as easily. Keep in mind that overheating the head is not a good thing.

Part Numbers?

Is there a link like that for the 12v engines?
The dealer is the absolute last place I go to buy parts.
Getting raped at the fuel pumps is bad enough. I am definitely not going to get screwed if I have a choice.
