Hi Guys

I'm here at my shop , this fan will not come off , I have tryed the punch , I have a 36mm wrench , I have even used a air hammer ... I don't want mutalate it any more ...
Any more tricks ...?

threads are backwards on the fan.

 

I have been hitting towards the drivers side ...down ward .

More help ...Please .

I hate to admit this but my fan came off with a pair of pump pliers. If yours is that stuck you may want to try some heat and/or penetrating oil. It sounds like the last person didn't use anti-sieze.

 

I had to take the bolts off the pully and it gave me enough room to get the mount with the fan ...all in one unit .
Now its out ... thats a work out , I will and try and use some penatrating oil on it over night .

I took out 3 of the pulley bolts and used a big adjustable wrench and I cut a "C" shape into a cheap air hammer bit to help it engage with the big adjustable - worked like a charm.

 

Remember it is a LEFT hand thread...pretend like you are tightening it. Mine was stubborn too...but I did the punch trick, and then the wrench...spun right off.

I did mine with the belt on...need smoething to hold the fan from spinning.

 

I got the whole block off , I have the thing soaking over night , some how I'm going to have to lock the pully in place and try and wench this thing off .
If I use heat I would say I'm buying a new clutch ... the fan looks a little beat up ...like it ate a cat or two ...LOL

I might have to buy a clutch ... I hope not ... my limited buget is getting smaller , I have to get a new belt , upper and lower rad hose's ... so far ... if I'm in there I'm doing them now , the there all original .

I take my fan off every fall and re-install in spring. Some years I can barely get it loose with a wrench set on the hub nut and pulley. Some years it comes off with water pump pliers. I use anti-seize, too.

 

There is a kit available that is a 36mm wrench (among other sizes) that hooks up to a swivel and plugs directly into your air chisel, for removing stubborn fan clutches with no damage. It is the greatest thing ever!!

 

the fan will not come off the block , I even have the snapon fan removing tool , I actually bent one of the little pully heads .
I tried light heat more towards the clutch it self ...I don't want to hurt the block bearing .
Looks like my only choice is to cut the clutck after the nut and try a big socket with impact gun

Any one with any other ideas

I cut the fan off the bearing block ... The threads are no longer there ...

Looks like I need a new bearing block or a new shaft that press's into the block ... any one ever have this problem ...sucks to me me .

Never heard of this before, but doesn't mean it hasn't been a small problem.

Contact your local diesel performance shop. They may have one from a parted out engine.

 

This is where I'm at , The bearing feels like it has some issuse's , it kind-a feels like a **** on a safe ... little clicks when you turn it ...it's bad .

I from what I can tell I just got the timing cover off ... very clean inside , Has any one ever seen this , some drilled a hole in the timing cover housing in the perfect spot to insert a taped bolt right in front of the pin .

I am going to still put the tab on and button the cover up .

Dose any one know if I will have to go to dodge for this bearing and block and dose it come as a complete unit ...?
