Engine Won't Rev Past 2200 rpm.

Hello,

I have a Ford F800 with the 5.9 Cummins engine (12V). I recently changed the fuel filter and am having this problem. It seems like the engine has a governor that will not go past 2200 rpm. Before it could be reved up to 2800 rpm.

When I changed the fuel filter, I took the filter out and filled the new filter with diesel. Then, I put the filter back on and tightened it. I started the truck, and it started up on the first try. Their was a drop in idle and then ran like normal. The truck idles fine but won't rev even when I floor it. What could be the problem? I would really appreciate any opinions and comments. Thanks.

Nobody knows why this is happening? Could it be that their is air in the fuel system or water? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

ok so it DOES rev but just to 2200rpms...what about in park..just 2200rpms?...well ur timing may have fallen/slipped wayy off...get it bumped...other things ..check to see if ur idle is set right...and check to see if ur throttle cable isnt stretched..or if there's too much slack in the go pedal...i had slack in the go pedal....it wouldnt hurt to change the overflow valve while u have the timing done

check to see also if ur fuel shutoff solenoid is comign up fully or if it needs adjustment...check to see if the throttle lever is opening fully when u press go pedal and adjust accordingly

if u were fooling around and changing the fuel filter u could have done something to the throttle linkage...id check that first
