Electrical Problem???

I hope this is not a serious problem, but the other day, I started my truck and I heard this noise under the drivers side hood. It sounded like something was charging or reving up. It lasted for 15-20 seconds. But while the noise was going on, I could not shut off my truck, the tack or oil pressure gauge did not work, but the truck would not shut off. After the 15-20 seconds, the truck was back to normal. And I just put on a new fuel silinoid last summer. Any suggestions guys, Thanks

Sounds like your starter solenoid contacts are worn and starting to stick. The noise you heard was the starter continuing to run after the key was released. Replace them ASAP or you will be in for another new solenoid and possibly melted wiring.

Good price and instructions here- http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm

In the meantime carry the tools to disconnect the batteries fast before damage occurs if it happens again.

The foster truck site has good instructions. The bolts require a 12 point 10mm socket or wrench and are very tight, I've resorted to using a jack on the wrench a couple times to break them loose. There is a ball bearing at the bottom of the plunger stem, most times it stays put but if you are aren't watching out it can sneak away without you noticing. Take it apart on a clean bench. All and all it's a very easy job.
