driveshaft Questions

I have a 96 5 speed 4x4. it is a qclb,

i have a two piece drive shaft and i was looking to go with a one piece. How long should the shaft be, and has anyone ever done this....

is the 96 truck in my sig....

Lots of people have done it but the driveshaft has to be larger diameter than the two piece. Best to have a driveline shop do it so they can balance it.

In fact Ford quit using two piece shafts about five years ago due to too many problems.
Took Dodge about four more years before they finally went to all one piece shafts.

I just did a one piece that is 4"x.095 wall. The shop said it was 2 sizes thicker.
I dont think that a shop will build you one with a stick.

I had a NV4500 and went to a 47rh and the shaft was 6" shorter. My new shaft was 65" long center of ujoint to center of ujoint, and he said that was as big as he would go.

I have had the truck up to 120mph and had zero vibes.

i am going to go to a shop out here called driveline one. was told to bring in just the drive shaft, but ill drive the whole thing there and see what they say....
