A man ask if i could look at his truck its a 97 auto and it starts a little hard but does start then if you try to let idle i quits but then you can start it every time with a little throttle it drives fine it will soot a little at take off but come to the stop sign and it quits unless you brake with some throttle i went to put a fuel pressure gauge in but forgot that it did not have the 1/8 pipe banjo fitting he said he put new filter and blow out fuel lines a diesel mechanic told him lift pump but i am not sure any ideas thanks oh ya and what is thread is in a stock banjo fitting if any one knows

 

It could be the lift pump and probably is if that's what a diesel mechanic told him. I wouldn't really drive it without getting it fixed cause you could destroy the injection pump.

 

Could be the idle has slipped to low.

 

how does the idle slip to low and how do i adjust it back

 

almost guarantee its simply the idle.theres a bolt and 2 nuts on the back of the pump right below the afc I think,loosen the bottom one and adjust the top one until the idle is set ,then tighten the bottom.they are 10mm
