89-91.5 are not intercooled 91.5-93 are intercooled with differnent injectors and a smaller exhaust housing for quicker spool up.the 1st gens have a rotary pump. Starting in 94 with the p pump they had wastegated turbos. 1st gen has a bigger clutch with a weaker tranny. And a million other things that make them different.
