Did anyone ever use a diesel timing light?

i wish i could get one that didn't cost a fortune. they use a piezo type pick up on the #1 fuel line.

Yes. They are great for checking timing but for changing timing the dial indicator method is faster and easier.
You can get a light made especially for a diesel or just a sensor to use with a regular timing light.
They aren't cheap
