Delaying shift points

How do you accomplish this in the 47RE? Shifts into 4OD WAY too soon. Lugs the engine like crazy. Have to leave it locked out until 50 mph+ to keep the TC from shuddering. Didnt have this problem before the fuel and spring mods. Thanks

Looks like you still have the stock converter? You really need a beefed up transmission & converter, it's not really shifting too soon, you just have way more torque than stock, the transmssion just can't handle it . If your gears are 3.53's, locking out OD under 50 is usually easier on the transmission.

Since you have an RE the dealer can reflash the OD shift mph where ever you like it.
This can be done on the RH also but it is almost impossible to find a dealer mechanic who knows how to do it on a ten year old truck.

Well I have 4.10's so when OD is locked out it wraps the gears pretty quick. Under heavy throttle with OD unlocked it shifts ok, no lugging. Under light throttle it just engages too soon and I have a "flare" from 2-3 that was really bad before the shift kit. The shift kit fixed it for about two weeks and now it is back only not as bad. I dont know if a TC will fix anything with the 2-3 shift. I think I will just drive it until it quits and get a GB tranny and triple disc.

I have the same issue with my 98.. Kind of sucks in town too. I don't have the TC problem, it just lugs down in town.

I just cant see spending money on a TC and then having the tranny fail and risking damage to the TC. Should wait for all new components.

shift flair

Your flair is either a loose front band adjustment, or a front clutch seal leaking. The kit raised the pressure which will help some, but it doesn't solve the issue. Nothing to do with the converter.
The shifts to OD and converter lock-up is electronic and is controlled by the PCM.

Since the shudder can be caused by the front clutch slipping, and you have a flair on the 2-3 shift, It looks like the front clutch is dieing. Rebuild time.
Not all shudders are the converter!!! The rear clutch can cause it also.

Run it hard, with what you have in the motor you can kill the tranny quick.

Expect the trans to die SOON. Check out the choices and make your plans as it is time. You can choose burial, cremation or exchange.
