cruise inop

ok the cruise was working fine up till a day ago. but today i hit set and it held the speed for about ten seconds then it just drops speed. it wont hold anymore. does anyone have any ideas.

Put your foot behind the brake pedal and lift up. Then try the cruise control while keeping the upward pressure on it, if it works your stoplight switch needs to be replaced.

Another thing to check is the vacuum lines that run to it. They are bad about rotting out under the battery tray where the battery acid can drip on them.

I just reconected a rotting line under the drivers battery tray yesterday...
check your lines.

drivers side. you have to pull the battery and the tray to get to it. there are two bolts you have to take out from under the truck.

I've always been able to replace the vacuum line under battery without removing the battery or tray.

i can reach it but cant see under there good enough to reconnect anything.
