Compression Tester Adapter
Compression Tester Adapter
Does anyone have a compression tester adapter for a Cummins B series???
I need one, and Snap-On has them backordered (had one on order for over a month). Would anyone let me borrow one for a few days so I can check compression, and see where all my blowby is coming from??
Thanks in advance,
Chris

In Frame Hell...The only good way to rebuild an engine is to tear it out, tear it down, and start over.
If it needs bored, it's not going back in! At least that's my opinion, but you know what those are like

If blowby location is what you're after, a low pressure air line connected to each cylinder (probably have to remove the injectors for access) at TDC should give you a good indication.
Listen at the tailpipe or loosen the turbo and check at the flange for an exhaust valve leak, through the intake for an intake valve leak, at the oil fill cap for a ring leak.
Or use a Leak Down Tester to check the individual cylinders.

Sounds like a good plan Shovelhead, but how do I keep the air from leaking back around the injector holes??? Anyone know what thread size the big nut on the injectors are? I could make something like that If I knew the thread.
Thanks again,
Chris

Cummins does not do compression test's to check engines, they test the blow by with a monometer (sp?)
they have a chart that tells the condition from new to fubar
I have seen major blowby from lined up rings but mostly from ether
