Cold Wx T/C lockup?
Cold Wx T/C lockup?
Since it is getting colder, the T/C is wanting to lock and unlock again. I have discussed Infidels' 1Kohm resistor, but can't get to the sensor. Anybody know which wires are the right ones coming out of the tranny?
Don't want to add a lockup switch as too many people drive the truck.
During the warmer months, no problems at all. BUT, 49f and below, here it is again.
Thanks,
Ed

It will first try to lock around 38 -40 mph depending on the throttle. At higher speeds or loads, all is well. In warmer weather, it will work what I consider to be normal. Just when it is colder do I see the problem.
I can drive home from work, about 25 miles, and no problems at all when up to speed. When I slow down to 25-35 or so, that's when it does it.
Tranny filter and fluid coming up on change, but no bad colors or smells.
May have to open it up.

Edit: TPS voltage is good, connector is clean

just pull the wire off the sendor for the trans temp light and get a resistor and bride the 2 connections on the plug.I think its a 1000 ohm ,Infidel will tell you the right one.with that resistor on there the trnas thinks its warm all the time and the trans builders so it wont hurt it locking up cold. You can also take a chainsaw file and slot the holes in the tps and adjust it a little to keep the tc locked up.
Found the problem. The TPS connector had a "slight" intermittent open on the orange wire. I replaced the connector and pins with a new one I had laying around. Works great now. Thanks for the help.
Funny it just acted up when it got colder tho.
By the way, could not see the problem with a DVM. Used a O'scope to see the voltage spikes and drops. The DVM could not keep up.
