I am not sure if this has been addressed but I wanted to get your input on the 12V swap for my CAT 3126b. There are a couple things at play here; the 12V has to mate to an Eaton Fuller 13sp and have a compressor. As far as I know, I will need to yank out the 3126b, ECM, and complete wiring harness. Sounds like a lot of work but this 3126b has to go. My 750 works over the road and pulls Hauling exotic cars over the road
roughly 58k pounds and it barely makes it up the hills. The current configuration is 230HP and 800 torque with a PDI tuner, turbo, and exhaust manifold. I would love to hear from anyone who has done this swap or has definitive knowledge of what’s required. Thanks in advance!
A friend of mine is doing an overhaul at work on a similar ford with a 5.9ISB. Not sure the exact year. The sae2 adapter on the Cummins would be key to mating the trans.
At that weight though, you might be in better shape to look for the larger 8.3L Cummins.
I have an '03 F750 with a 24 valve cummins with a 10speed roadranger. If you need any pics of anything let me know. I'm getting ready to do something similar as you are, BUT i'm swapping in a mechanical DT466.
I would definitely change the fuel plate, governor springs, and possibly an upgraded turbo on a 12v pulling that much weight........then watch the pyro on the hills.
Shouldnt be too difficult to drop in a 12v. You will need to wire up the fuel shutoff solenoid OR use a jerk wire in the cab. Then wire up all the gauges to work.
