Haven't looked into one, but I assumed it was a sealed bearing. If it is, there should be no servicing.

Look for a zerk fitting?

fyi, I lost my carrier bearing on the road a few years ago. My 98 turned out to have a "special carrier bearing" I was told that 98's had a different bearing then almost all others I guess. I was told, only after getting the wrong one, that 98s have a larger carrier bearing then 97's or 99's. I dont know if its true, but I was sidelined for two days, and had a friend drive a few hundred miles with the right one just to get going again.

The dealer ended up doing the job for free, cause they felt bad about getting the wrong one the first time. That was the first 24 hrs....

Just from looking at your screen name I'd be willing to bet that you've had to deal with wore out carrier bearings that slide off of a yota 8 inch carrier by hand.. lol..

Actually never had a problem with the carrier bearings. Beoken a few gear sets, but can't say why they failed. Other than too much abuse.

They make more of them every day!

ha ha.. I've cleared off two 5.29 gear sets myself. The last set I cleared off I replaced with some Bobby Long cryo treat so we'll see how that goes..
