Your are going to need to slide the AFC housing ahead as well or its not going to do much.. Also, you are going to need to do something with the waste gate. I used a hose pincher I got from a parts outlet for a couple bucks and then blocked it off. With the stock plate, you won't get to the 35 psi threshold for the stock turbo. Once you start changing the plate, you will need a better system.

I thought you wanted to slide the afc housing towards the rear to make it even further from the plate.

Sliding the plate and the AFC forward means moving them towards the front of the engine.

For the record, the method I read about w/the hand impact and torx bit didn't work. Ended up using a sharp chisel, making a groove in the side, and turning it that way. If you break the head off, no worries, just use vise grips after you get the AFC housing off like previously said. I couldn't get the slotted screw to budge before I hit it w/the hand impact, then it came out easy.
