Yup. Need the nv5600 engine adapter plate. Also, if it's a newer 5600, the input shaft is bigger, requiring the 6 speed clutch or an updated clutch from southbend or the like. I like the 6 speed gear splitting for heavy towing, but for occasional towing and daily use, the 5 speed does a fine job, IMO. Plus, since the 5600 has been discontinued, they're hard to find and very pricy. Getting more difficult to find parts for them as well.

As much as I like to row my gears, if I already had an automatic truck, I'd drop the coin on a built auto. Puts all the power to the ground just like a stick (with a good clutch) and you don't have to change anything. Figure aboput 3000-3500 for a good build and it's just out with the old, in with the new
It was originally a w250, single stack and white. When my buddy wrecked his d350, I swapped the rear and bed onto my rig. Ran a tailpipe for a while and dual 6'' stacks, but don't think I ever ran the single with the dual wheels. You from this neck of the woods?

I swapped in an NV5600 6 speed to get a better towing split than offered by the factory 5 speed. I've been running my '98 12V this way for several years, and have been very pleased. Although it seemed rather painful at the time, looking back, I'd have to say that the whole swap really wasn't that bad - the only thing I had to get outside help was shortening/balancing the driveshafts. If you choose to go the the same route, best of luck, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results!
