Can I do this.

Hey guys, I been thinking again-scary isn't it. Could put the injection pump off of a second gen truck on a first gen truck? If possible, who could do it? Anyone around wichita, kansas? If I did this would I be able to use the aftermarket parts for the 2nd gen on my first gen? The reason I am wanting to go this way is, I like the first gens 4wd system better and I like leaf springs all of the way around. I havent got a truck yet, just trying to decide what would be best.
???

Very Interesting

My brother has a first gen. Cummins that we are considering for the same conversion. I know that the gear housing, injection lines and the P7100 pump will be needed. But I do not know if the second gen injectors will fit in the first gen head. Some first gen heads had a 9mm?? injector.

I don't think the 2nd Gen nozzles will fit a 1st Gen. Unless of course, you change the head too...
The P-pump conversion is a big job. There's a fair bit involved and it is a pretty respectable job for the average mechanic.

Bob.

There are spacers for the 7mm injectors (second gen) to fit the 9mm holes (first gen)
