Brake Switch Bad Again?
Brake Switch Bad Again?
Ok so I had a problem with my OD lockup disengaging and finally found that it was the brake switch. I replaced it and everything was fine. Now two weeks later the lockup is disengaging and locking whenever I hit a bump , and it doesn't even have to be a really big mind jarring one either. I hold my foot under the pedal and it goes away. Should I replace the brake switch again or is there a symptom of a bigger problem like the booster or a vacuum leak allowing the pedal too much movement when a bump is hit.
Yea that is true. I went ahead and purchased another one last night. Before installing it I pressed on the plunger. The plunger only moved about an inch or so. Once I put it in it worked fine but it feels like the pedal is being held up to a firmer position by the brake switch plunger. Is this normal? Should the brake switch plunger have recessed all the way or is that how they are made?
Haa!!! I just had the same thing happen this week..except I was 250 miles from home & had the brake switch replaced..it didn't help at all..I had to hold the brake pedal up with my foot...when that got sore..I used a rubber bungee cord for the next 500 miles..I haven't fixed it yet, since I had to get to work right away...I will be watching the suggestions also...
HEY 5 20,& ROAD DSL. This same thing ( holding up brk., pedel w/ foot) happens when i use my cruise contrl. It don't take a big bump, cruz quits then starts up again . I'v cked., wire in steerin colum,it's ok it may be brk., sw.
