Brake light comes on in reverse

So I've noticed a couple times that the brake light comes on when i out the truck in reverse (auto). I've felt nothing out of the ordinary. This morning I pull into work and go to back into a parking spot, i go to slow down and the pedal is hard as a rock....I give it more oomf and the truck did stop. Everything works fine when its in a forward gear, fluid level looks ok.....what could be causing this?

With vacuum assisted brakes it is totally normal for a hard pedal at idle, the vacuum pump just can't keep up. It only gives you two or three brakings before the vacuum runs out.

This was an instant hard pedal....its never happend like this before. I mean I had to grab the wheel and pull to get the truck to stop. Its definatley not right....I understand the harder brake activation, but not this hard.

Could be, but why would it only happen in reverse?
