Best way to adjust starwheel?

Anyone have a "sweet sopt"

Like, can I put it all the way forward or back and count the clicks either way to get "just right"?

Should my truck be able to roast the tires?

Is the plate still in the stock position?

With the 215 pump, the AFC spring is about as soft as the ones on the front end. I would loosen it off completely. I did with mine (when all I had was the #10 plate) and noticed a marginal improvement in throttle response.

Yes, my 10 is in the stock position.

Would loosening it all the way forwrd make me happy?

Can anything fall off into the pump if its maxed out?

Anything break?

Which way? Towards the engine?

Nothing to fall off or break. You would have to dismantle the entire AFC to do any damage. Happiness is such a personal thing..Hard to comment on that LOL..

Yup, towards the engine is loosening off the tension. From stock it probably will only go about 15 clicks IIRC..

Sorry to barge in on the conversation, but I'm getting ready to tackle the exact same topic (#10 plate). Is that 15 clicks from the stock position until it feels good or 15 until it is full forward?

Thanks, Craig

Don't quote me on it. I have been adjusting mine so much I can't totally recall. The starwheel is just a nut and it will bottom out against the housing as you turn it toward the engine. The spring doesn't actually look loose at this point as there is some assembly tension on it.

What ive done is after my recent modifications i just adjust it slightly about 2 clicks forward or back at a time and then test drive it to find the sweet spot

You will get much more pre-boost fueling by siding the AFC cover all the way forward than you will by adjusting the starwheel.
Make sure the cover is slid before you mess with the wheel.

Thanks for the information guys.

Sliding the housing is different than sliding the plate, correct? Sorry to sound like a dummy, but it's better to ask than assume.

Yes. The plate controls fueling after the AFC arm has moved out of the way as boost comes up. By moving the housing forward you change the position of the AFC arm.

my housing is full forward with the AFC spring so loose you can jiggle it around on the housing. it smokes when i first romp on it but the turbo lites so fast its one good puff and im gone. if i dont want too much smoke i just dont mash it as quick. i'd rather control the fuel to my liking as i drive instead of a spring decide how much fuel is apropriate before the boost builds up. its also alot easier to smoke out an a-hole driver with the spring really loose and the housing forward.

I am finding my mileage is improved with a slight tightening of the spring. Cruising I am usaually in the 5-8 psi mark up to 10. So tighting the spring a tad seems to keep the fueling light under that mark until I hoof on it. The lighter AFC spring I have gives way a little quicker under boost.
