Best timing for my application??

I have a 98 QC 2wd (3.55 gears I think) 12v automatic with the only mods being a BHAF, Goerends TC (set to lock up around 1,500 rpm) and 4" exhaust. I use it for a driver and pulling a 5th wheel RV.

I am interested in getting some better mpg and performance by adjusting the timing. (Already have full set of gauges to watch over things) I was looking at 16 degrees. Do you feel this would be a good start or should I stay back around 15.5 degrees?

Thanks!!

I'm personally getting ready to advance mine to 16*, which I think seems reasonable for either of our setups from my understanding of the whole thing. 15.5* should be fine as well.

If it wasn't for the EPA our engines would be set to 15.5
If you can hit 15-16 you'll be way better off than stock.
Higher than 16 is no real advantage for a non-racing truck.

What type of fuel economy gains are typically seen by advancing timing to the 15.5-16* range?

Hi; I live in Stratford Ontario Canada. Anybody out there know of someone to set my timing in this area. Had new p-pump installed and they set it at stock. Doug
