Benefits of blocking a wastegate?

What are the benefits of blocking the wastegate? How do you block the wastegate on a 98 12 valve (pictures if possible)? Will it lower my EGTs? I don't have gauges yet but plan on them with a 100 plate. Now towing - just more fun power.

More boost won't give you more power, only more fuel gives more power.
When you give it more fuel then you might need more boost to completely burn the fuel.
I wouldn't recommend blocking off the wastegate until you get a boost gauge.
Boost in excess of 35 psi only pumps hot air and can overspeed the turbo causing it to fly apart.

get a boost and egt gauge then plug your wastegate and grind your own fuel plate, all you have to buy are the gauges.

Easiest way to block the wastegate is to pull the boost signal line from the AFC to the wastegate off. There is a tee fitting on the back of the AFC that you remove and screw the manifold signal fitting directly into the AFC. About as cheap and easy as you can get.
