Banks Torque converter seating

I am converting from a stock T.C. to a banks triple disc. When I pulled the trans I measured the stock one, 5/8” protruding out from the bell housing. When installing the Banks T.C. the measurement is 7/8” protruding. I have had it in and out several times and always get the same thing. When I compare old to new all the dimensions they seem to be the same. Background, I got the T.C. used w/3000 miles on it. I guess the guy could have sold me a T.C. for something else, he seemed honest but who knows. Is there some way I can tell if it is the right one? Or can you tell me the secret to installing the T.C. I have turned it around and around and I think it is seated but not sure.

Thanks for any help

Floyd

I think PATC makes a shim that might help you...

Been reading their parts section quite a bit lately.

Are you sure it is all the way into the pump?

Yes it was all the way in, must have put it on a dozen times. When I installed the trans, as we started to mate it to the engine I kept checking it for flex plate clearance, went in fine. Test drive was good. I think I like it very much.
