Smile Band adjustment spec's

Hi Guys
I have read a few posts on the band spec's for the 96 47re ... I have seen that years before and after 96 the spec's are the same 72 inch pounds then 1 7/8 backing off , thats for the front , and for the rear 72 inch pounds and 3 turns back for the rear band .
I was told by a dodge tech to use those spec's , but I was on here and found a post with a link to Geno's adjustment spec's and they listed only one unit for that year and they did not list if it was a 46 or a 47 and they also listed the spec's as 2 7/8 for the front and 2 turns for the rear .... which is what I beleave to be for a 46re .
So what is the correct numbers for a 1996 47re .
Thanks guys

Greg

Front Band is 72 inch pounds, then back it off 1 and 7/8 turns.
Rear Band is 72 inch pounds, then back it off 3 turns.

Just a note---
most all diesel tranny gurus say not to adjust the bands unless your tranny is slipping in 1st or reverse.
You will often do more harm than good.
My stock tranny went 212k without being adjusted even once, even then it wasn't slipping.

Smile Re : bands

I have a bit of sliping .... the main reason some one was playing with the band adj before I got the truck ... I am a retired wench and have done my share of adjusting of bands ... I did this one last week ... but only the front ...if you can beleave when I had the pan down I forgot to do the one in the pan ...it feels fine so I will leave that one alone .
Thanks

186K and never adjusted the bands, Pulls strong and shifts good.
Good luck with your decision.
