Bad tps, going to POTS setup need help

So I have been searching and searching but cant get a clear answer. If I convert to the potentiometer, will I need to manually ingauge converter, or just adjust my shift point and thats all?

I want to install this setup if I dont have to switch converter in and out. Please someone clearify!

Also can I put a switch in with it, to lock converter when coming down a hill?

Potentiometer is just to adjust OD shift point.

TC lockup switch is an entirely different mod.

I just did both. Gotta be careful with the lockup switch. I already forgot to turn it off a few times while coming to a stop and holy jeepers does that make an awful racket. I can't believe that there wasn't shrapnel flying out of the trans. It is great for going down hills though. I assume I'll get better at remembering.......

There is a mod to wire in a relay on the brake switch to unlock the lock out switch when you use the brakes. I don't have the link.

I read a post a fe years ago where a guy had installed a pressure switch somewhere that disengaged the lock up switch before it downshifted into 1st.

Just to clearify, if I install a potentiometer to replace tps. The converter will lock and unlock on its own and I can only adjust when it locks in.

If I want to lock it manually I can also install the switch.

Ok so did the pot swap and it works great! As for manually locking for second gear, I ran a wire and tapped into pin 54 behind air box, then to a switch on my steering column that when turn on it just grounds it and locks the converter. That completely overides the computer and the pots setup.

The only problem with locking it up in 2nd is when it shifts to 3rd....it's hell on a tranny to shift with the TQ locked up.
