Bad Clunking

Ok so my truck does not have the death wobble as described by some that is initiated by hitting a bump. My truck only wobbles real bad when braking and it inst all the time. I have this clunking sound coming from under the front of the truck that sounds to me like the control arms with really bad bushings. On top of that, when it does wobble under braking, it wobbles bad enough that you have to let off the brake pedal. If I had a warped rotor wouldnt it shake all the time, even when not braking? I replaced the track bar and steering stabilizer and it still shakes. I went to buy new bushings for my control arms and was told that I would be better off just getting new control arms as they are not much more than buying bushings. I dont really want to replace a bad part with the same style. What options do I have for control arms? Would I be better off to make my own with Heim style joints and make them adjustable? Serious problem without serious cashflow makes it hard. What should I do?

I checked the play in the front tires last time I rotated, nothing there. I can see dry rot and cracking on the bushings. I would think that if I jacked the truck up and supported it on the frame that I would be able to work the control arms if they were bad. I dont know what to do next other than replace everything in the front end as far as bushings. Just hope someone has had this problem and can help.

buy a new set of rotors, and shop as many stores as you can to get the best price.

I looked at everything. I cant feel anything wrong with the rotors and the pads are new. Best I can do I guess is just have them turned and put new pads on and see what happens. What else could it be if it wasnt the pads and rotors?

Don't know about the clunking, but I am starting to experience some of the wobble during braking as well. FYI, mine is a 2WD, so maybe not something 4wd related.

As far as the brakes go, here are a couple of links. I just ran into this info last night. Good nice to know info about brakes. The first link is for warped rotors, and the second link is tons of info on brakes in general.

Just hate to see you go thru the expense of new rotors and pads, and have the problem come back in short order (like mine). I think I screwed up when I went with the $25 dollar Morse pads. Should of spend the extra 25 and went with the Bosch pads. Kevin
