Bad Brake Problem Need Help
96 excab 4x4 5spd.
I need some help i have a problem with my brakes I THINK when driving down the road slow speeds and high way speeds if you apply brake the truck startes wabbleing shaking like crazy bad. It shakes my sterring wheel bad as well. If you go down a rough road the truck feel like the shocks dont even work its all over the road and its bumpy. Even when traveling down the road without applying brake i can still feel a little shake in the rear end. I was traveling down the raod and i was exiting off the highway and i hit some rough road and the truck did it without applying brakes it even kicked my truck out of gear. My ABS light comes on and goes off like it is suppost to.

The shake while braking sounds like warped rotors. From there, all moving parts wear out and it could be more than one problem! I'd start with all bushings, i.e. shocks/springs, sway bar, control arms, etc. Check for any broken leaf springs. General shaking on smooth pavement is usually u-joints or imbalanced wheels. A good set of new shocks make a world of difference over the old stockers, especially if they've never been replaced. How many miles are on the truck?

Thanks for the response, 124k are the miles I have rancho shocks on the truck I have a new tran, power sterring gear box, control arm, u-joints. I checked the leaf springs and every thing is good. new tires and got them mounted and balanced. And when i say the truck wabbles you can physically see the whole truck shakeing.
The rotors warping on these trucks is fairly typical, since the brake system was complete underpowered for a truck of this size, especially when towing. Also note that the drums can warp as well. Those are good places to start. It also sounds like you have suspension/tire problems that need addressing.
1. Are the tires balanced correctly?
2. Is there a broken belt in one or more tires?
3. Are any suspension parts in the front end worn, such as the track bar?
4. The u-joints can cause a vibration, but usually that won't shake the entire truck.
One and two are most likely if the entire truck is visibly shaking. Rotor of drum warpage will only show when using the brakes.

What you are saying sounds like Death Wobble, It can be set off by warped rotors. Get under the truck, have someone saw the steering wheel back and forth, look for any slop or looseness in your steering especially the track bar.
