Auto won't downshift when stopping???

Auto won't downshift when stopping???

97 Ram 2500 with the 47RE. when comming to a stop, it wont kick down to first, it just keeps starting out in second. after that it shifts just fine.....just never into first??? Any ideas

can you force it into first with the gear shifter? the valve body is what controls shifting gears along with pressure.

Mkae sure your stopping 100% too!, if you just come to a rolling stop, then take off, it will stay in 2nd.,mine, I run a tight converter, and will sometimes start out in 2nd, unless Im pulling a trailer, and then I give here some juice, and she will kick down to 1st at take off.

I had the same problem with mine and i was able to fix it with a dtt voltage regulator. Mine didn't do it all the time just sometimes and i could manually put it in first. I think if the line presure go's over 105 it go's into limp mode.

i also had the same problem.....my govenor pressure sensor in the trans went bad...i replaced it in my driveway in about 30 mins start to finish
