Auto tranny prices??

I'm definitely going to have to ditch my stock converter and tranny. I want to get one that shifts nice and crisp, and doesn't just let the engine rev up to 2500 for an eternity going up a grade and trying to get to lockup. So, if I'm doing my lurking right, I should be choosing between DTT and Goerend. I don't see myself getting into stratospheric hp levels, maybe 400-450. DTT prices are published. I cannot find Goerend prices published. I've tried many times to call, but they're tough to get a hold of. Would anyone happen to know if Goerend's trannies are more or less expensive than DTT?

Dave may be just a kittle higher. I am surprised he has not called you back if you left a message or e mailed him. He called me back one evening about 8:00 his time and talked to me a long time. Either way you go should be a winner !

Dave is much cheaper. New tranny with a triple disc is about 3K.

Dave's stuff is cheaper and just as good quality as a DTT build but you may or may not have local support where you live.
Id make the location of a builder one of your deciding factors since if it blows up or if you need something done you dont want to be doing it via UPS
I went with the DTT since Ive got a shop near me that installs them and hes easy to get to. Id have preferred to go with Goerend's since hes a lot better with tips and advice for your setup, but when I priced out shipping and everything it was about the same, 5200$ versus 4900$.
Not cheap by a longshot, but like folks say you should do it right while youre in there, or its just going to implode that much sooner.

Installed at Dave's garage mine was a 3 disc TC, tranny built for 400HP, new tranny lines, new rear main engine seal, new friction plate?, out the door for $3,800 installed.

i actually think that Dave is a bit cheaper. I got my tripple disc and built but non billet tranny for 2850. his prices went up recently to 2950 but thats still a steal. the level of customer service not even CLOSE to being parralleled anywhere else. Dave runs a bussiness like a true american. I'm pretty sure if you told him the only thing that would fix a problem you were having was for him to give you the shirt off his back, he wouldnt think twice.

Okay, good stuff. I'll keep trying to get a hold of Dave. There is a local DTT guy local to me but I understand they're obscenely expensive. No need to spend money unnecessarily like that. Then there's Mass. Diesel, but they're 2.5 hours away. I hear they're very good, though. I have a Kore distributor only a few miles from me. Guess what kind of suspension I'm gonna get!

I've heard McMopar's name in other posts. Is he a DTT builder?

They are all good, a huge improvement over stock no matter who you choose. There are some people who have "STRONG" opinions on who is best and get ugly rather quickly. If you want more info from me please use a PM. Thanks
