Auto to NV 4500 Conversion ?

I will possible be doing an auto to NV 4500 conversion in the near futrue. My friend has a 1995 that he wants to make an auto and I'll be taking all of his 5 speed parts. Will all of his parts work with my truck. If not then which ones do I need to get. I would like to assemble some of the parts I would need ahead of time if there is any to get. Thanks Pete

Is he thinking he'd use your Auto? The 97 auto doesn't work in a 95. 94-95 autos were mechanical governor, 96-up are electronic gov. The tcases for the 94-95 autos are different input than the 96 up auto tcases too. Just did a 95/4wd-96/2wd swap, so just went through this scenario.

All of his 5 speed stuff will work on yours though.

He will probably get a built auto and use all of my other stuff. Will my T-case work in his truck and will his T-case work in mine? All I will need is a new clutch so i can turn up the power some more!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming your trucks are both 3/4 tons then you should be good...
You're going to need peddle assembly, t-case, tranny, flywheel, clutch, driveshafts.....

But as one stated, in the 95s they used 518s which are mechanical govner and also didn't have steel planetaries like the 47RE.

Both trucks are 3/4 ton diesels. The 5spd truck is a 1995 dodge 3500 diesel. I just wanted to make sure that the clutch hydraulics would mount ok like the slave and master cylinder and his pedal assembly.

I did the swap on a 96. (auto to 5spd) Everything's pretty much bolt-on, except cutting the hole in the floor, and lengthening/shortening driveshafts. You may not have to worry about shafts if both trucks are the same length and you can swap them.

Ok thanks. torquefan. I just wanted to make sure that I don't buy parts that I don't need. If all of the 95 parts will work on mine then that is great. I'll be buying a new clutch though.
