Crap, I might as well let it fall out for that price. The guy told me that he has seen many cracked cases, but has never seen the pin out of the hole. So I ask myself, how are all of these cases cracking? There has to be someone in SE south dakota, NE nebraska or NW Iowa that has some experience in killing kdp. I'm trying to be proactive by taking care of it sooner than later.

Sounds like they are quoting you a price to replace the entire timing case. To tab the KDP is really only a few hour job. I could see 24 hrs for a timing case R&R but not just to take the timing cover off.

Maybe talk with them again and see or call another shop. I hadn't ever worked on my truck before and the KDP was the first project. It took about 3 hours but was 10* in an unheated garage.

Well, I made it home safe and sound with the KDP KIA and silencer ring MIA. I did smoke out a couple people that were drafting me on I-29. The truck runs great, started right up this morning and I'm very happy. Thanks to Ben and Joe at Country Performance Diesel.
