Sounds like they are quoting you a price to replace the entire timing case. To tab the KDP is really only a few hour job. I could see 24 hrs for a timing case R&R but not just to take the timing cover off.

Maybe talk with them again and see or call another shop. I hadn't ever worked on my truck before and the KDP was the first project. It took about 3 hours but was 10* in an unheated garage.

Well, I made it home safe and sound with the KDP KIA and silencer ring MIA. I did smoke out a couple people that were drafting me on I-29. The truck runs great, started right up this morning and I'm very happy. Thanks to Ben and Joe at Country Performance Diesel.
