Anyone ever made an auto trans cooler line?

I had a small pinhole leak in my cooler line for my auto, and im thinking i can splice in a section of hardlineto replace it.

I need about a foot of .5 inch steel hardline, 2 of the tubing nuts and one double-flare connector.

Only thing is, i cannot find anywhere local that sells .5 inch "brakeline" tubing. My double flare tool has a .5 inch die, so im pretty sure it has to exist.

Anyone know of an online vendor for the line and fittings? Summit sells .5 inch aluminum fuel line, but id rather have steel. The sections of brakeline they sell at Napa, etc.. would be perfect except the largest size ive ever found is 3/8.

what about using a 1/2" 1/2" coupler (compression, flare, take yer pick...)

Cut right at the pinhole? (Or is it on a bend?)

my cheap *** would just slide a section of hose over it and clamp it...

Watch out for "brass" compression fittings if you have a modded valve body or high line pressure. I had a bad experience with a brass compression fitting, failed, spewing atf everywhere.

The best Fix for those tranny lines is what i have sitting on my tool box right now.

I bought 8 (yes you will need 8 to do this right) hydraulic fittings, one end is straight pipe thread (the fittings on your tranny and coolers are NOT tapered , so be careful) and the other end is a #6 JIC, all the fittings are straight , and now i can go anywhere and get new tranny lines made out of hydraulic hose. The reason i am going this route is i had a tranny line quick connect blow....

Agree with JKM on hydraulic lines and they can be replaced out of town quickly if needed. Most NAPA stores make up hydraulic line. You can also order online thru Northern tool or Tractor supply, if you're not close to a store.
