Another LP replacement question

First of I did a search and got all info for the stock LP replacemant...I thought all went well till I fired it up and found fuel dripping from the the bottom of the new pump. I re-tightened both LP mount bolts & injector line.
Did I go wrong by not replacing the preheat to block gasket?
Should I have put a sealent of some kind on the gaskets or install both dry?
Is there a sealent to use on the fuel line fittings?

Thanks.

I used some pipe dope on the elbow fitting for the hose from the fuel heater and the fitting in to the pump for the line to the main filter. Other than that I would check for that o-ring in the line out of the pump. Maybe it got pinched or a tear in it.

As far as the gaskets to the block, they would only seep oil. Shouldn't be the problem there.

So the fuel must be leaking from the input or output of the LP, is teflon pipe tape okay to use? or is pipe dope the best way. As for the o-ring on the line out I did not see one, where should it be?

When he says O-ring, maybe he means the sealing washer on the banjo fittings (they have rubber molded in the washer)? Don't use any pipe dope or teflon tape there.

if i rember right on the back of the lift pump theres a 90degree elbow one end treads in the lift pump ,that needs teflon tape or pipe sealent ,,, on the top should only have the high pressure line with a cone base made of copper to seal on

I was confused with the line to the heater from the inlet line to the tank.. Sorry about that. That compression fitting has a rubber washer in it. For fuel leaking out, the only lines under pressure are out of the pump to the filter and filter to the P7100. The rest of the fittings will suck air.... Any findings yet?

Yes I found the problem, it was the output fuel supply line from the lift pump. The old fuel line would not seal with the new lift pump, I didn't think I'd need a new fuel line with a new pump. So I'll reinstall the pump again I did install studs so its not so bad. Hopefully adjusting the valves will go smoother.
Thanks.

I don't like using teflon tape on fuel systems. Not only does it eventually leak but if you ever have to take things apart it's near impossible to clean the tape debris out of female fittings without totally taking things apart. This is especally bad on the clean side of the filter.
I've had the best luck using Permatex #2 for sealant. Most all autoparts carry it.

So is it best then to stay away from sealant all together when dealing with fuel lines?

No, sealant is good on fittings that need it. After much trial and error I've found Permatex #2 the best for fuel.
Many fuel system fittings are sealed by o-rings or washers and don't need any sealant. In fact now that I think of it all of the stock fittings seal this way and don't need sealant. Could be wrong though.
Generally fittings that need sealant have tapered threads.

i recently changed a fuel line from the LP, I thought i might have lost a small peice (bb, maybe compresion sleve) does anyboby know if there is a peice inside the check valve nut out of the LP (where the compresion threads into)

There is a compression sleeve on the end of the fuel line, can't see that coming loose. Nothing inside the LP to fall out, there is a aluminum part # tag that is wrapped around the fuel line? Why do you think you lost something, did you hear something fall off?
