Which Amsoil to use

I'm switching my truck over this weekend. What weight should I use? 15w-40 or the new Series 3000 5w-30? Can I run 5w-30 year round? <--Still questioning myself on this one!
Also, I was going to use Amsoil's Hastings filter. Good idea or bad idea?

Thanks

My Father is a dealer for Amsoil so I read all the updates and info amsoil sends him.
I used the 15w-40, then I saw the stuff on the series 3000 5w30. It costs more, but in the winter I think it may be worth it. I noticed oil pressure almost instantly even in 20 degree weather. Plus the truck rattles alot less and I swear it runs quieter.
Additionally amsoil claims a fuel mileage increase due to less strain on the oil pump and better lubrication. I don't really know if the mileage is any better, but I spend the extra money during the cold months for the extra protection it is supposed to provide. But when it warms up I will switch back to the 15w40.
Either way you go I think amsoil is worth it.
