afc/fuel plate problems?

For anyone that has been following my fun adventures of my truck not running. I took the fuel plate out and removed the spring in the AFC housing. The truck pulls now and boosts. Also lets out puff of smoke befor the turbo cleans it up. I noticed when I put the AFC housing back on the pump in this condition that it sat flatter like something wasnt hanging up. Maybe on the fuel plate? Any ideas to what it might have been hitting? Also how safe is it to drive the truck witout a fuel plate and or without a spring in the afc housing.
thanks
chris

should be fine as the AFC lever should hold the lever arm...

now, what you need to do is go back and put the plate in and see how it runs... if it's still got good power, you've got a torn AFC diaphragm or a major boost leak between the head and the AFC!

I just looked at my fuel plate. The allen screws on top holding the part that hangs down into the pump on. The heads at the very tops twords the gap in the center are marred like the lever arm in the AFC housing that hangs down was hitting it. Maybe that was why the housing didnt want to sit right and why it had no power, it just wouldnt let the arm move. I'm just not sure what to do to fix it. I have 2 of the same plates from the same guy I havnt used yet. one is a 10 for the other truck and the one i was using is a 100. both look the same as far as allen bolt head positioning. Can I file down the edges of the bolts do you think? or should I go after the arm in the afc housing?
