Acronym Help, etc...

GSK, KDP???

I am unfamiliar with these acronyms... Any other common ones would be good too.

My new truck (FIRST CUMMINS) has a few cosmetic and gauge-type issues I intend to address first but one thing I'd like advice on is why my only really good power band is from 1750 to 2250...

Should I start a new thread or does anyone have any thought on that...?

Another: The term "haze" in the phrase haze a little at idle.

GSK=Governor Spring Kit
KDP=Killer Dowel Pin

If your truck is a 94-98 12valve engine, the factory governor starts de-fueling your engine about 2200rpm or so. A 3000rpm GSK will let the truck have fuel up to that rpm so the power band gets much wider.

Basic power upgrades are usually a Fuel Plate, GSK, some other pump adjustments and perhaps better exhaust and intake. You first need at least a pyro (Exhaust gas temperature) gauge so you don't melt any engine parts while your having fun. If you enjoy using the extra power much, you'll probably also need some transmission or clutch upgrades.

Read up on the KDP problem as it can cause serious engine problems if you get bit by it. http://www.tstproducts.com/94-9812valvedodgeram-1.aspx
Click on the Dowel Pin repair kit.

If you fill out your signature with your trucks info you will get better advice.

Thanks guys!

KSB wasn't in there nor the term haze which must mean some undesireable idle characteristic, not sure.

That's a very useful acronym chart, thanks.

Haze is a light unburned fuel condition, I.E. light black smoke.

KSB is a first gen ( 89-93) term describing the VE injection pump timing change unit on the side of the pump.

Awesome guys, thanks.

I think I'll stick it out here just at this forum for now. My attention gets too dispersed with multiple forums and such.

I feel there is an abundance of data for me to absorb at this forum.

Seems like EGT sensor/gauge has to come first, then straight pipe then GSK...

Once again, thanks much for the terminology help.

If you're not really changing your fueling, GSK and straight pipe won't change your EGT's much from stock. That being said, its a good idea to get the gauges first, but unless you are towing, you can get away with the non-fuel mods without them. JMO.

Thanks for that input and I'm quite sure it's correct.

However I have seen people questioning whether or not straight-pipe actually lowers egt and I would like to find out.

I think I will look for a boost gauge, egt and a pillar-mount for them.

Any suggestions as to brand (relatively affordable?)
