My Dad has a 98 12v I am wondering how to tell which auto trans this truck has is there a model # on the tranny some where. He ordered it with the heavy t case also. Any help would be great.

 

Tranny is a 47RE and the transfer case has a tag on it. (HD is obviously heavy duty, LD is light.) There should be a label on under the hood that gives you all of the info on the truck, i.e. gears, transfer case, tranny, etc...

Is there a drain plug on the torque convertor?

 

No drain plug from the factory. Either the pan or the converter.
